Night Path Home

The moon was big and blue. Aurora and Zoe held hands. Mr Chicken peeped near a tree. TUTU the rabbit sat by a log. "Come," said Aurora. "Come see," said Zoe. They walk on a soft path. They hear a far bell. The bell goes ding, ding. They all stop. The wind is slow. They smell a sweet star. Mr Chicken cluck. TUTU hops. "We go now," said Aurora. "We go slow," said Zoe. The girls feel warm and safe. They walk on. The path glows. The glow is dim and shy. A small door is in a tree. Aurora kneel. Zoe look up. Mr Chicken peep near the door. TUTU snuff the rim. The door is blue. A tiny light peek. "Who is there?" said Aurora. A soft voice say, "Help me." The girls feel sad. They want to help. "We help you," said Zoe. "We find the way," said Aurora. They plan a small map on a leaf. Mr Chicken eat a seed. TUTU hop on the leaf. The moon is big and kind. They start to go in. The inside is a small hall of star dust. The girls step in slow. Mr Chicken tap tap. TUTU hop fast. They see a sad star on the floor. The star is dim. "I fell," said the star. "I lost my home." Aurora take the star in two hands. Zoe make a warm hug. "We help you home," said Zoe. The star blink a soft light. "I am cold," said the star. The girls hold and hum a song. "Hum hum hum," they sing. Mr Chicken cluck the beat. TUTU tap a hop beat. The star glows a bit. The girls smile. They leave the tree and walk on the moon path. The path is like a long rope of light. They go up and down. The wind sing slow. The bell in the sky ring soft. "Look!" said Aurora. High on a hill is a big cave of moon light. The star point. "That is my home," said the star. But the hill is steep and dark. Zoe feel brave. "We go up," she said. Aurora nod. Mr Chicken peep and run. TUTU hop high and fast. They climb the hill as the sky watch. The wind push but they hold on. The climb is hard. The star get dim. The girls feel sad and tired. They stop and sit on a rock. Aurora set the star on her lap. Zoe make a warm light with her hands. Mr Chicken snuggle near Zoe. TUTU curl up and hum. The girls sing the slow song. The song is soft and kind. The star glow more and more. The cave door open. A kind moon owl fly out. "You are brave," said the owl. "You bring me home," said the star. The moon owl take the star and fly in. The star slide in and find a soft nest. The nest is warm. The star glow big and bright. The girls clap. Mr Chicken cluck and hop. TUTU run in a ring. They feel glad and safe. The moon sky hush and feel calm. The girls sit and look at the new star. The owl nod and fly away. The bell ring one last soft ding. Aurora yawn. Zoe smile and yawn. Mr Chicken close his eyes. TUTU tuck in near the girls. The path back home is lit by the new star. They walk slow. They sing the soft hum. The wind feel warm on their face. The door of their house glow. "We did well," said Aurora. "We are kind and brave," said Zoe. They step in and shut the door. The house is warm and safe. They sleep and dream of moon play. The star watch and keep them safe. The end.
