Snow Trail Night

Zoe and Aurora woke up slow. The moon was big. Snow lay on the path. Zoe put on her coat. Zoe had a bright coat. Zoe had big mittens. Aurora had a star suit. Aurora had soft booties. TUTU the rabbit sat by the door. Mr Chicken shook his feathers. "Look!" said Zoe. "Foot prints!" said Aurora. Zoe held her mittens up. Zoe had a small glass lens on mittens. Zoe said, "I will find who." Aurora said, "I will follow." The moon felt cool on skin. They felt glad and brave. The snow was soft and cold. They all went out slow. The path had many small marks. Zoe bent low to look. "These go here," Zoe said. Aurora hopped near TUTU. TUTU sniffed the snow. Mr Chicken pecked a mark. "Not my foot," Mr Chicken clucked. "Not mine," said TUTU with a twitch. Zoe put her mitten lens down. She saw a tiny leaf mark. Aurora saw a curl of fur. "Who was here?" said Zoe. Zoe and Aurora felt glad and sure. They ran slow on the path. Run, run, run! They all run. The wind sang soft. The trees made a low hum. Zoe felt warm in her coat. Aurora felt safe in her suit. Zoe found a small toy near a tree. It was a red ball. Zoe held the ball up. "This was here," she said. Mr Chicken clucked and pecked the ball. TUTU sniffed and sat. Aurora found a tiny shoe mark. "Look here," she said. Zoe put her lens on the shoe mark. The mark had tiny threads. Zoe said, "This is a soft boot mark." Aurora said, "Like my boot!" Zoe and Aurora felt wise. They made a small map in the snow. They drew with a stick. They said the path out loud. "Left, left, left," said Zoe. "Right, right, right," said Aurora. They all laughed. The moon was high. The night felt calm. They heard a small rustle near the tree. TUTU froze. Mr Chicken stood still. Zoe said, "Hush. Look." A small fox nose came out. A small fox pup peeked slow. The pup had wet fur and cold paws. The pup had no shoe. The pup had soft eyes. Zoe held out the red ball. The pup nosed the ball. Aurora sang a soft song. "Soft song," she said. The pup wagged its tail. Mr Chicken clucked a nice cluck. TUTU jumped and twitched. "Are you sad?" asked Zoe. The pup made a small cry. Zoe put her mitten lens near pup. Zoe saw a tiny name tag. Zoe read slow. "Tiny Joe," she said. Zoe felt brave. Aurora felt kind. Zoe and Aurora led the pup home. The pup left small marks in the snow. Zoe found more small toys on the way. Mr Chicken kept near the pup. TUTU hopped and led the way. The stars looked down. Zoe held the pup close. Aurora held the name tag. The name tag had a red dot. Zoe said, "We will find home." Aurora said, "We will help Joe." They walked slow with the pup. The wind was soft and low. The house lights were warm and near. A small door creaked open. A soft voice said, "My pup!" A child ran and hugged Joe. The child said, "Thank you." Zoe and Aurora felt glad and warm. Back at home the moon was low. Zoe and Aurora put on warm tea hats. TUTU sat by the fire. Mr Chicken found a small seed and pecked. Zoe and Aurora told the tale slow. "We found prints," said Zoe. "We found Joe," said Aurora. The moon peeped through the glass. The house felt kind and safe. Zoe put her mittens by the bed. Aurora put her booties by the door. TUTU curled on a soft rug. Mr Chicken closed one eye. Zoe felt happy and calm. Aurora felt warm and glad. "Good night," said Zoe. "Good night," said Aurora. The snow kept its hush. The moon kept its glow. All were safe and sleep came slow and soft.
