Zoe and the Deep Ship
The moon was warm and big. Zoe and Aurora sat by the sea. TUTU the rabbit nuzzled Zoe. Mr Chicken peeped soft. "I see a light!" said Zoe. "I see a shell," said Aurora. The light was blue and soft. A small wave made a song. "Come, come, come!" said Zoe. They all go to the sand. The night wind felt nice and warm. The sea told a slow song. Zoe held a map. Aurora held a shell basket. TUTU sniffed the sand. Mr Chicken fluffed his wing. They felt brave and glad. The light in the sea grew. Zoe looked and saw a dot. "A ship?" said Aurora. "Let us find it," said Zoe. They walk on a path by the beach. TUTU hops fast. Mr Chicken walks slow. The sand made soft sound. "I am scared," said Aurora. Zoe took her hand. "I am brave," said Zoe. Zoe put on her barnacle hat. Aurora put on her snorkel. The light was like a star in the sea. They stay near the surf and listen. The surf says, "Go, go, go!" They all feel warm and kind. Zoe reads the map. The map had a big X. "The ship is here," said Zoe. They dig with small hands. TUTU digs with nose. Mr Chicken pecks the sand. The sand falls slow. A box comes up. It is old and wet. Zoe lifts the box. Aurora opens it. Inside is a small shell lamp. The lamp glows blue. A soft voice comes from the lamp. "Hello," it says. They are all very glad. The voice is kind and low. "I am an octo guide," it says. The octo guide will help. The sea is calm and kind now. The octo guide swims up. It has soft arms and a kind eye. "Follow me," it says. Zoe and Aurora go in a small boat. TUTU hops in the boat. Mr Chicken sits by Zoe. The boat goes on the sea. The moon lights the path. The octo guide points to a dark spot. Under the spot is the ship. "I am a bit scared," said Aurora. "Hold my hand," said Zoe. The boat drops slow down. The wave rocks soft. The octo guide glows blue to keep them safe. They go down, down, down. They see fish and star and sand. The ship is big and old. They touch the ship. It is full of small doors and shells. Zoe maps the barnacle marks. Aurora finds a key made of shell. TUTU hops and finds a toy ball. Mr Chicken peeps and finds a red flag. The octo guide points to a chest. The chest is stuck by a vine. Zoe pulls with all her might. Aurora helps and pulls slow. TUTU nips the vine. Mr Chicken pecks the lock. The lock pops! Inside is a soft book and a small toy map. The book has a story of kind sea friends. They all clap and cheer. The octo guide sings a soft song. They feel warm and safe. The boat floats back to the sand. The moon smiles and the sea hums. Zoe and Aurora walk home slow. TUTU hops and Mr Chicken walks near. They put the shell lamp by the door. The toy ball goes in the toy box. The small book is on the shelf. Zoe hugs Aurora. "I am glad we went," said Aurora. "I am glad you were brave," said Zoe. The octo guide waves one arm and sinks back to the deep. The sea says good night. They all feel warm and safe. TUTU sleeps in a soft bed. Mr Chicken nods and sleeps. Zoe closes her eyes. Aurora rests her head. The moon keeps watch. The night is kind and calm. Good night sea, good night ship, good night friends.
